PSYCHOLOGICAL EMPOWERMENT AND SOCIAL CONNECTEDNESS AS PREDICTORS OF JOB SATISFACTION OF REMOTE WORKERS IN LAGOS, NIGERIA.

Abstract
This study examined the influence of psychological empowerment and social connectedness on job satisfaction levels among remote workers in Lagos, Nigeria. A crosssectional design was employed, and data were collected using a battery of psychological tests consisting of Psychological Empowerment Scale (PES), Social Connectedness Scale -Revised (SCS-R) and Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (short form) from a sample of three hundred and eight (308) remote workers from different organizations in Lagos, Nigeria. Statistical procedures like Pearson’s correlation, regression analysis, one-way ANOVA and independent t-test were used to
test the four hypotheses proposed in this study at 0.05 significance level. The results revealed that psychological empowerment and social connectedness were significant and positive predictors of job satisfaction and a significant difference in job satisfaction levels based on job roles. However, no significant gender differences were found in job satisfaction. The findings suggest that fostering psychological empowerment and promoting social connections among remote workers can enhance job satisfaction. This study contributes to the understanding of factors influencing job satisfaction in remote work contexts and highlights the importance of considering psychological and social factors in supporting the well-being of remote workers.
