Admission Criteria for the Editorial Committee

The Journal of South African Democratic Teachers Union (JSADTU) upholds rigorous academic and professional standards for all guest editors. Each candidate’s qualifications undergo careful review to protect the journal’s integrity and to ensure that every guest editor advances JSADTU’s mission of publishing impactful, high-quality research.

Guest Editors’ Credential Verification

Guest editors are chosen based on their academic background, expertise, and professional contributions in the governance and development arena.

  • Verification Process:
    • Academic and Professional Assessment: Thorough evaluation of academic qualifications and professional track record.
    • Editorial/Peer Review Experience: Review of any previous involvement in editorial roles or peer review.
    • Field Contributions: Consideration of publications, keynote presentations, and leadership in academic or professional organisations.

Admission Criteria to the Editorial Committee

These guidelines apply to all committee members, including guest editors:

  1. Academic and Professional Excellence
    • Completion of a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
    • Demonstrated subject-matter expertise through peer-reviewed publications or recognised leadership roles.
  2. Editorial Experience
    • Previous experience in journal editing, peer review, or comparable academic activities.
  3. Commitment to Ethical Standards
    • Agreement to observe the journal’s publication ethics and peer review guidelines.
  4. Recommendation and Approval
    • Nomination and authorisation by the editorial committee, contingent upon meeting the above requirements.
